Veneers are wafer thin, custom made and tooth colored shells designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance.  They are made of porcelain or plastic and are cosmetically used for teeth that are discolored, misshapen, crooked, chipped, or to correct unwanted or uneven spaces.  They are resistant to stains.

Unlike crowns, veneers don’t usually require much of the tooth to be removed by the dentist.  The dentist will usually lightly buff the tooth to allow for the small added thickness of the veneer.  An impression will then be made in order to create the veneer and a temporary veneer will be provided while the permanent veneer is manufactured.  At a subsequent visit, your custom veneer will then be adhered to the tooth.
